The exclusive agreement includes individual health, small-group health,
and Medicare supplement insurance offerings from among the more than
30 insurers from whom eHealthInsurance holds appointments. Recently,
eHealthInsurance secured a similar strategic alliance with InsWeb
(Nasdaq: INSW) by which eHealthInsurance became the consumer arm for
InsWebs health insurance customers.”Our goal is to provide all CSAA members with the best selection of
insurance products and services,” said Don Patton, vice president of
Membership Branding of CSAA. “Based on our shared commitment to
outstanding customer service, eHealthInsurance was a natural choice.
eHealthInsurances exceptional comparison shopping capabilities take
the confusion out of purchasing health insurance, which will be a
tremendous benefit to our members.”aaa.com provides AAA members with fast, easy access to benefits such as
travel, automotive and insurance. eHealthInsurance will allow CSAA
members the ability to research, compare and ultimately purchase
health insurance coverage and policies from a number of different
providers quickly and easily. In addition, AAA members will receive
$35 towards the purchase of their favorite health, beauty, wellness,
or personal care products when applying for individual/family health
insurance.”As the online leader in health insurance, our goal is to let
individuals and businesses learn that health insurance is both
affordable and attainable,” said Gary Lauer, president and chief
executive officer of eHealthInsurance. “This alliance enables both
companies to reach todays growing online audience. The results are
certain to be a big win for our insurers and, most importantly, for
CSAA members in need of affordable health insurance.”
eHealths eApproval technology makes it possible for online shoppers to
apply for health insurance at eHealthInsurance.com, submit their
application with an electronic signature and receive an instant response
from Celtic Insurance Company. If approved for coverage, the customer is
able to submit a payment electronically and receive their membership
materials immediately via email.

By integrating automatic scoring decisions and application approvals
directly into eHealths online application process, eHealths proprietary
eApproval technology is able to streamline the process of applying for
health insurance online.

“Shopping online has become a very normal exercise for many Americans
because they expect to find a wider variety of products and services on the
internet,” said Colleen Fournier, VP of Sales eBusiness. “The one
drawback to buying health insurance — online or off — has been the time
it takes between submitting an application and receiving a response, until
now. While eApproval doesnt allow for every application to be completed
immediately, it does make that experience a reality for a significant
number of applicants.”

“Celtic Insurance Company is a nationally respected leader in providing
quality, affordable health insurance to individuals, families, and the self-employed ,” said eHealth Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer, Gary Lauer. “Celtics implementation of eApproval gives consumers
one more compelling reason to purchase health insurance from Celtic at
eHealthInsurance.com. Approximately 40 percent of our customers are
uninsured(1), and waiting up to two weeks — or more — for an underwriting
response just extends the period of time that theyre uninsured. eApproval
can eliminate that period of uncertainty for a significant number of those
who apply for plans from Celtic.”

Perceiving play; the art and study of computer games.
Computing is one of the largest and fastest changing of all magazine sectors and is divided into sub-sectors where cover ranges from the internet to gaming consoles and personal computers. The personal computing market itself is further divided by the Audit Bureau of Circulation into Computing Miscellaneous; Computing PC Business; Computing PC Games and Computing PC Leisure. Jamie Malley, circulation manager at Future Publishings Computing Division, says that with the high cover prices of many computing titles–up to 6 [pounds sterling]–it can be a strong category for retailers even if sales fail to rival those of a few years ago. “Many retailers find that by rationalising their range down to fewer titles, but concentrating on the better quality titles, their revenues grow,” he says, but added: “Although the PC sector has seen some significant drops in sales over the past 12-18 months, there are indications that it is recovering”.

Press, 2002. Pp. 523. Appendices. Illustrations. Index. References. Cloth, $39.95. This exhaustive study of Kalamazoos automobile industry includes an introduction, thirty chapters, an epilogue, and a forty-eight-page technical delineation of the cars built in that city between 1902 and 1982. The reader learns in the introduction that the book will treat the history of automobile manufacturing in Kalamazoo and the story of “automobiling” in and around Kalamazoo, thus the books title. Seventeen makes of cars and trucks are considered in detail, from the Barley to the Wolverine. Unfortunately, the volume also includes irrelevant chapters on the Kalamazoo Rail and Velocipede Company, chapters treating automobile manufacturing in Vicksburg, south of Kalamazoo, in Allegan, to the north, and a lengthy (eighty-six pages), detailed discussion of the bankruptcy hearings for the Michigan Buggy Company and subsequent criminal trials. Several chapters seriously consider “automobiling” and in many respects are the most valuable part of the book. Chapter 2, “The Horseless Carriage Arrives in Kalamazoo,” identifies the first forty-six cars in the city by nameplate and more importantly lists the owners and their occupations. A later chapter, “Automobiling,” presents an overview of the challenges of owning and driving an automobile in western Michigan during the first decade of the twentieth century. In 1914 Kalamazoo hosted the first one-hundred-mile automobile race in Michigan at its county fair grounds, and Lyon devotes an entire chapter to this event. There is also a chapter on the performance of a Kalamazoo-built car, the Cornelian, at the Indianapolis 500 race in 1914. With Louis Chevrolet at the wheel, it finished twentieth. Lyons work reminds both “car nuts” and serious automotive historians that Kalamazoo had a long history of automobile and truck manufacturing, beginning with Clarence and Maurice Blood, who produced the first automobile in this city in June 1902. The Checker Cab Company, which assembled cabs in Kalamazoo from 1923 through 1982, was easily the citys most successful automobile manufacturer. The remaining firms had typical life spans of three to five years. One chapter of this book, “Rumors, Dreams and Great Expectations,” contains brief histories of failed companies that produced fewer than ten cars. Although the author decided against using traditional notes for documentation, the “Chapter References” supplied at the end of each chapter follow the order of the text, so the reader can link most of the book with the sources used.

NEW YORK — The March issue of Incisive
Media’s The
American Lawyer offers the most penetrating analysis to date of
lawyer Marc
Dreier’s $400 million fraud, the most brazen and spectacular
deception in law firm history. While Dreier has pled not guilty to
prosecution charges, the cover story reveals that for at least the last
four years, his professional life has been a sham, aimed at deceiving
virtually everyone he came in contact with.
“The
Crack-up” by Alison Frankel details Dreier’s spiral towards
self-destruction, as it became progressively clearer that he was not the
high-flying litigator or convention-busting law firm innovator he so
badly wanted to be. In retrospect, what proved remarkable is that he
fooled so many people for such a long time. At the end, when his client
had found out about the phony promissory notes and the auditors lawyer
was threatening to turn him in, when the client escrow accounts had been
plundered and the hedge funds had figured out the scam, and when the
Hampton houses and the yacht and the cars and the art collection were
about to be exposed as mere props, Marc Dreier was finally ready to give
up.

In “A
Really Bad Bet,” David Bario looks at Thacher’s transformation from
a sleepy corporate shop into a runaway train fueled by the rising
secondary market for mortgage securities. Thacher became dependent on
these lucrative deals, allowing structured finance to dominate the
firms business model and refusing to consider a merger until the market
had collapsed.

sydney debt collection

June 26th, 2009

Offers weekly reports on the economic and business news of Asian countries and regions.
ACA teams with state and regional units to work on state legislative and regulatory issues. In 2007, the credit and collection industry faced new challenges and opportunities. In October, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) hosted a debt collection workshop, Collecting Consumer Debts: The Challenges of Change, which brought debt collection to the public forefront. The workshop gave members of the credit and collection industry the opportunity to showcase how they help the economy and discuss the challenges facing the industry. At the state level, legislatures and regulatory bodies continued strong supervision over debt collection operations and practices. Nevertheless, ACA International and its state and regional units continue to meet the challenges resulting from this growing focus on our industry. State units achieved numerous victories last year promoting laws beneficial to the industry and opposing legislation that would be detrimental to creditors and debt collectors nationwide. The following is a list of some of the state action highlights from 2007.
I-many, the provider of credit and collections solutions for businesses, law firms and collection agencies, has recently won contracts in a number of diverse arenas. Jim Stanley, I-many Internationals General Manager, said: “In 1990, the business model was relatively straightforward. Lawyers collected past-due debts and corporations performed credit control and sought lawyers and collection agencies to handle debt collection. Things have changed a lot since then. Now, lawyers perform credit management on their own invoices as well as collecting debts for clients. At the same time, corporations handle credit management within their credit control departments, which are also increasingly collecting their own debts using the courts rather than passing the debt collection task to lawyers.” Collection agencies continue to provide both services. The following case studies are examples of changes in the market dynamics in the field of collections. Allen Overy, a global law firm, uses I-many Collections Disputes to reduce days sales outstanding and improve its worldwide efficiency. It has 26 locations, with headquarters in London, and employs 4,700 staff, including some 420 partners. Allen Overy has been using I-many Collections for three years, starting with the implementation of its “windows” version in three of its largest offices. The firm later implemented the web-based version of I-many/Collections software at its London, Antwerp, Brussels, Frankfurt, New York, Paris, Luxembourg and Madrid offices.

WHAT IS CORPORATE EDUCATION?This report discusses the extensive education and training programs established and run by corporations and other organizations, largely profitmaking enterprises whose primary purpose is something other than education, in the context of traditional higher education. As used in this report, “corporate education” is education offered by a business or industry for its own employees.HOW EXTENSIVE IS CORPORATE EDUCATION?Corporate education is an extensive, multifaceted endeavor, costing billions of dollars, educating millions of people, and absorbing many working hours annually. It is estimated, for example, that approximately $30 billion to $50 billion is spent on formal employee education and $180 billion on informal, on-the-job, education. Employees in companies with 500 or more employees–4.4 million people–can expect to receive frequent instruction paid for and provided by their employers.IS CORPORATE EDUCATION A THREAT TO HIGHER EDUCATION?As colleges and universities strive to respond to the needs of nontraditional students, they often find that corporate educators have preceded them. Corporations, with the assistance of the American Council on Education and the New York Board of Regents, have had their courses evaluated, frequently leading to the granting of credit for corporate coursework by colleges and universities.Courses offered by corporations range from remedial to postgraduate level management and technical courses. Corporations have even founded their own colleges, known as “corporate colleges.” These educational efforts potentially could threaten the health, and devalue the worth of, higher education, but in fact, corporate education is compatible with–indeed complements–traditional higher education. Higher education in the United States has been responsive to the needs of the workplace since the beginning of the federal period. The prevailing dialogue in higher education has long been the weighing of tradeoffs–practically and philosophically–between general education and what now is called “career education.” The formal recognition of instruction independent of the providers is a multifaceted and complex enterprise on the postsecondary education scene in and of itself. These efforts have accomplished two things. First, the structural conformity of noncollegiate instruction with collegiate instruction (for example, associating credit hours with contact hours) facilitates transfers and students mobility and opens up an array of potential cooperative efforts between businesses and colleges. Second, they have served as a major channel of communication between school and corporation about educational content and methods. This report presents the interaction between corporate education and these recognition processes, a path by which noncollegiate education can wend its way into the most traditional patterns of higher education. Innovations find their way into higher education in five ways, one of which is when external institutions appear on the scene to challenge, titillate, and/or draw attention to significant issues. The emergence of corporate education with its interest in formal recognition offers opportunities and challenges to higher education in the way it teaches, the students it seeks, and the perception of the purposes of education. The growth of corporate education is a stimulus to both internal collegiate debates and public policy decision making.WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED FROM THE PROLIFERATION OF CORPORATE EDUCATION?Many profitable educational ventures have been initiated that were provoked by employers recognition of their responsibility for developing their employees. The American University, for example, using its own faculty, offers an MS in toxicology at Litton Industries, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology cooperates in an education program with IBM and Digital Equipment. An indirect benefit to colleges resulting from an increased awareness of conditions in higher education on the part of business and industry has been the use of modern technology by colleges and universities to educates future employees. And a national discussion on the role of colleges and universities in American society has been stimulated by heightened awareness of shared national needs.

ROCHESTER, Mich. — A breakthrough survey conducted by Foresight Research quantifies the
automotive sales impact of print articles and print advertising. Then it
compares print articles and print advertising influence to other forms
of marketing communications used by auto buyers.

The study shows that the majority of vehicle buyers (62%) are influenced
to some degree by print articles, and 45% are influenced to some degree
by print advertising. 19% said print articles were a primary or secondary
purchase influence, and 8% reported that print advertising was a primary
or secondary influence.
“We also noted the influence by vehicle brand purchased and found that
BMW, Cadillac, Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, Hyundai and Mazda lead the brands
in terms of impact from print articles. Then we looked at the print
advertising side and many of the same brands appear. The reason is that
buyers are paying attention to both the articles and the ads,” says
Steve Bruyn, CEO of Foresight Research.

So, what are the most influential publications? Consumer Reports and
newspapers are widely influential but so are some of the automotive
publications like – Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Automobile Magazine,
Road and Track and Autoweek. “This study proves that print publications
still play a role in this electronic era,” stated Bruyn.

Business Editors/Advertising High-Tech Writers L90, Inc. (Nasdaq:LNTY), a leading provider of Internet advertising and direct marketing solutions for advertisers and Web publishers, announced today it is launching a new national print, radio, outdoor and online advertising campaign tagged “Stand Out!” L90s campaign is focused on communicating its brand as leading the way in the next generation of advertising, stressing the uniqueness of adMonitor, its proprietary advertising serving and tracking technology. The “Stand Out!” campaign speaks directly to advertisers and Web publishers who are looking to reach targeted audiences through strategic online advertising campaigns. The campaign began with national print ads containing an assembly of smiling yellow ducks with the exception of one bright blue duck, signifying L90s capability to make brands “Stand Out.” The phase due to launch in September features a fishbowl containing a pool of standard goldfish, with the exception of one blue fish jumping out of the bowl. The repetition of a blue figure “Standing Out!” will be a continuous theme throughout the creative campaign. In addition to the blue “Stand Out!” images, L90 is making a noticeable effort to brand its flexible and scalable adMonitor technology. L90 labels adMonitor as the “New Standard in Internet Advertising Technology,” focusing on the importance of its real-time reports that allow for immediate campaign adjustments for clients. The technology was specifically designed to handle serving and tracking for L90s cutting-edge advertising tools such as co-branded microsites and jump pages, content integration, rich media, sweepstakes, direct mail, and viral marketing. Due to the high demand of the adMonitor technology from Web sites that are not a part of L90s Web network, L90 has begun to license the technology.

Pre-fab saunas

June 25th, 2009

DENVER, March 31 /PRNewswire/ — Multiple health benefits and low costs of far infrared saunas are behind the rapid growth of LuxSauna as they launch into multiple markets. 10-20 years ago no one would understand what a far infrared sauna was. They might think of very expensive hot rock or steam saunas, or they might confuse it with a hot tub. This confusion is not lost. The new far infrared saunas are similar to the booming market for hot tubs in the 1980s. This is a product that appeals to the baby boomer market once they become educated about the benefits and (relatively) low cost. You may have seen the LuxSauna 30-minute TV show on many stations across the U.S. And recently infrared sauna benefits were showcased by Dr. Oz on The Oprah Winfrey Show. LuxSauna has recently teamed up with world famous detox retreats such as the “Tree of Life Dr, Gabriel Cousins” in addition to other equally well knows retreats such as Hippocrates Health Institute in Palm Beach Florida. Transformers

International Journal of Electrical Engineering Education is an academic publication providing coverage and analysis of electronics engineering.
Abstract: Dynamical behaviour analysis of energetic transformers is presented in this paper. Physical and basic mathematical background necessary for dynamical behaviour analysis is explained. Case of switching unbiased transformer on gird and switch current analysis are described. Switch voltage appearance in cases transformer switching and breaking from gird in normal drive is explained. Simulations of energetic transformer switching and breaking from gird using DIgSILENT program is given. Key words: analysis, switching, transformer, simulation, The main topic of this paper is model for testing power transformer in cases of inrush current appearance, when unloaded transformer is switched on gird, and case of appearance of switch voltage in normal drive. This testing is made in DIgSILENT program on 50 MVA power transformer. The term power transformer (Fig. 1) is used to refer on those transformers used between the generator and distribution circuits, and these are usually rated at 500 kVA and above ( Sim Digby, 2004). Inrush current is the magnetizing current that creates during switching of unloaded transformer on gird (Kelemen, 1997). Inrush current appears because of residual flux that remains in the core due to the properties of the magnetic core materials. Magnitude of this current can be 3.5 to 40 times bigger then rated full-load current and can cause many problems. This inrush current can have an effect on the operation on relays and fuses located in the system near the transformer (Sim Digby, 2004). Model for testing transformer on inrush current is also made in ATP program (Maric, et all., 2006) where presented results can help in prevention of undesirable effects that inrush current causes. Controlled switching can reduce the undesirable effect of inrush current. The actual controlled switching devices operate with high voltage circuits breakers but only in normal cases: usual manual switching of network components like power transformers, lines loads, etc. (Munteanu, 2006).

San Diego Business Journal is a publication in the field of business and finance offering news and analysis about local business trends.
The California Association for HPERD believes adapted physical education is one of the program options available to students with disabilities who are eligible for special education. Direct service Adapted Physical Education is provided by a credentialed Adapted Physical Education specialist to students who have needs that cannot be adequately addressed in other physical Education programs. In addition to Adapted Physical Education, other service delivery options include Adapted Physical Education collaboration and Adapted Physical Education consultation, specially designed physical education, modified physical education, and general physical education. Provision of Adapted Physical Education is based on the same process of referral, assessment, and individual program planning that other special education services follow. An assessment and evaluation of motor skills performance is considered by the Individualized Education Program team in determining provision of service. The individualized plan is developed through an assessment process that may include test administration, observation, record review, diagnostic teaching, and collection of information from other service providers, the student, and his/her family. Adapted Physical Education is an instructional program within the spectrum of physical education options taught by a credentialed Adapted Physical Education Specialist. The Adapted Physical Education Specialist provides curriculum-based and prescriptive instruction for individuals identified as eligible for services. Each specialist works within a comprehensive service delivery model which complies with legal mandates for educational service for individuals with disabilities. In addition, services may be supplemented through the collaborative model with a variety of team members (such as teachers, language speech specialists, psychologists, parents, occupational therapists and physical therapists, medical personnel, and others) to provide an integrated and consistent program for individuals with disabilities. The physical education curriculum includes, but is not limited to, basic locomotor patterns and skills, object control skills, rhythms and dance, aquatics, physical and motor fitness, and games. The unique and specific needs of individuals with disabilities may require accommodations and adaptive techniques or strategies to provide effective instruction in developmentally appropriate skills, functional skills, and age appropriate skills within the least restrictive environment. Instruction in Adapted Physical Education provides the foundation for learning and performing psychomotor skills, so that individuals with disabilities can more fully, safely, and with satisfaction participate in movement programs, recreation, sport, and physical fitness activities. The Adapted Physical Education Specialist teaches in all domains of learning with an emphasis on the psychomotor area. Instruction is provided in communication, cognition, social, behavioral, perceptual, and daily living domains, in addition to physical and motor skills. Student preferences and interests are considered in program planning, as well as coordination of services and resources.
Topics covered include school management, policy, curriculum, and legislation on education for school superintendents and central office administrators of public schools
